ELM Construction designs, prices and builds your kitchen under one contract, led by founder Elliott Pike, the 2023 NAHB Remodeler of the Year.

Kitchen Remodeling in Homewood, Designed and Built Under One Roof

ELM Construction has handled kitchen remodeling in Homewood and the Over the Mountain towns since 2008. The firm is design-build: the same company draws your plans, picks finishes with you, checks your wiring and plumbing with its trade partners, and runs construction. One team, one plan, one contract.

That setup changes how pricing works. After the design and selections phase, ELM hands you a contract with a detailed scope of work and a guaranteed fixed price, so the big decisions are made before demolition. Hank P. put it simply after his master bath: they stayed on schedule and on budget.

Kitchens, Baths and the Rest of the House

Kitchen Remodeling

Full kitchen gut and redesign, often taking down walls or borrowing space from a dining room. ELM's designers plan stone and quartz counters, built-in professional appliances, custom storage and lighting. Past kitchens include Vestavia, Hoover, Mountain Brook, Cahaba Heights and Edgewood projects.

Bathroom Renovations

Primary suites, guest baths, Jack and Jill baths and small-bath makeovers. Projects range from heated floors and freestanding soaking tubs to custom tiled showers and wet rooms. Plumbing can be moved to fit the room you want, not the one the builder left you.

Basement Finishing

Unfinished or dated basements turned into living space: guest suites, home offices, gyms or a lower-level kitchen. ELM handles water management when needed, new framing, insulation, air conditioning, a bathroom and new flooring, so the space stays dry and usable year round.

Additions and Outdoor Living

Upstairs additions, covered porches and outdoor rooms tied into your existing roofline. Recent work includes a Hoover porch with a stacked stone fireplace and outdoor kitchen. ELM also takes on whole-home renovations and restoration work, including fire damage repair.

Elliott Pike, Homewood High Grad and Founder

Elliott Pike and his wife, LeArden, started ELM Construction in 2008. The company prospered through the worst economic downturn since the Great Depression, growing mostly through referrals and repeat clients.

Elliott graduated from Homewood High School and Troy University, then worked for a firm that remodeled apartment complexes and a national building materials distributor. He was named the 2023 NAHB Remodeler of the Year and is the 2026 Chair of NAHB Remodelers.

He still oversees day-to-day operations, alongside production manager Adam Martz, who joined in 2011.

From the first meeting until the final walk through my experience with ELM was nothing but positive! Elliott Pike has developed a great system for guiding customers through the entire process of redesigning and rebuilding parts of your home. Liz Kennedy is THE best designer and was perfect for me. I get overwhelmed with so many choices and she was able to help me make decisions.

Questions About Remodeling with ELM

What does a complete kitchen remodel cost with ELM?

ELM's budgeting guide lists a complete kitchen remodel starting at $125,000. That covers gutting the old kitchen, possibly changing walls and layout, solid wood cabinets with soft-close drawers, quartz counters, new appliances, flooring and recessed lights. The price includes permits, project management, taxes, final inspection and cleaning.

What does design-build mean for my project?

Design and construction happen under one roof, with one team, one plan and one contract. ELM measures your space, draws floor plans and 3D renderings, guides your selections and checks existing systems with trade partners, so the design is buildable and priced before work begins.

Will my price change once construction starts?

At the end of the design phase, ELM presents a contract with a detailed scope of work and a guaranteed fixed price. Checking electrical, plumbing and structure with trade partners first lowers the chance of big surprises. Changes you request later go through a change order you can see in your online portal.

Is ELM licensed, insured and covered by a warranty?

Yes. ELM is licensed by the State of Alabama as a Residential Home Builder and Remodeler (AL Home Builders License #21942) and carries general liability and workers compensation insurance. Its work is backed by a written warranty that covers you for two years.

What does a primary bathroom remodel cost?

The budgeting guide lists a master bathroom remodel starting at $95,000. That typically means gutting the room, moving plumbing for the shower, tub, toilet and sinks, new solid wood cabinetry, quartz counters with two undermount sinks, recessed lighting and custom mirrors.
